Rogers Family

Hey there, Internet! I just wanted to pop in an update on this late Tuesday night.

Things have been amazingly busy around here! With the holidays, there has been an influx of family sessions. I'm so very thankful! This gives me hope that I could do this full time one day *praying and crossing fingers*.

I find myself dreaming about it a lot...especially when school is getting particularly stressful. Now, I'm not saying that full time photography is a leisurely walk in the park, but it's a kind of stressful that I enjoy. Does that make any sense?? I have to constantly remind myself to be content. To enjoy the season that I'm in right now. Please pray for me, Internet, because it is not easy to be content when I've had a taste of how things could be.

Now that I've had my soap-box, here is the Rogers family:  ;)

Happy Tuesday!

Leanne {Senior 2012}

Praise the Lord, I'm finally caught up!

The past few weeks have been incredibly busy, school and work wise. Therefore my house isn't clean, my laundry isn't folded and my dishes aren't put away. But the dog has been fed consistently so I count that as SUCCESS!

Something that has been in the queue for the past few weeks is this girl's session!

Leanne was an absolute JOY to work with! Seriously, I almost ruptured my appendix from laughing so much! Her laugh was sooo contagious. I love her sense of style and her attention to detail and I'm sure you'll enjoy looking at her photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

An Experiment in Keeping Something Alive: Round II

A few months after Lee and I started dating, I decided that we needed a symbol of our love (I was 17, okay!) Anyway, I thought about getting us a "love fern" to take care of together, but then I had a better idea: A love cactus!

I mean, a fern could easily die if you don't water it, but a cactus can live in the desert! It will be cinch, I thought! So I brought the cactus to Lee's house and let him be in charge of taking care of it. Months went by and it still looked the same: small and spiny. So I told Lee: You must not be watering it enough. Look at the dirt. It's completely dry! Humoring me, he let me bring it to my house and become the official cactus-caregiver.

Internet, it was less than a week before our poor love cactus shriveled up and died.

So we are ready to try again! (no mom, not a baby)

A few weeks ago we decided to get a puppy. Fortunately, a good photog-friend of mine knew a family that had some puppies to give away. We decided which puppy we wanted, prepared a living space for him, and brought him home! His name is Hudson, and he is an Australian Shepard/German Shepard mix. Needless to say, he has GROWN in the few weeks we have had him. We are absolutely smitten!

Bonus: He doesn't mind the camera!

This was shot about a month ago. THIS is how he looks now:

I think it goes without saying that I will post about him like he's my child.

You've been warned.

Tiffany [Senior Model 2013]

Hey hey everyone!

Last week I had the pleasure of hanging out with this beautiful young lady. Tiffany is a Senior this year at French Settlement High School. She loves the Lord, writing poetry, and is an advocate of the A21 Campaign to end human trafficking.

She has a BEAUTIFUL spirit!

We spent the day in driving around downtown Hammond and Southeastern to find the best spots for her pictures. This first place had the most PERFECT lighting and greenery.

Our mutual friend, Alyssa, jumped in for some BFF shots!

Daughter of the King right here!

We found this GREAT bridge on Southeastern's campus. SCORE ;)

Did I mention that Tiffany is a photographer too?

Enoch [Birth Story]

Last weekend, the world welcomed Baby Enoch. A few weeks earlier, Eleshia and I had a conversation and decided that I would be there when she delivered him. I was beyond excited! And nervous. But mostly excited ;)

I carried my camera everywhere for the next few weeks and jumped anytime I got a text from her. Finally, I got the message that Enoch was on his way!

I quickly cleared my schedule for the day, grabbed my camera, and made a beeline for the hospital. Then we waited...and waited....and waited... and at 7:48pm, Enoch  made his grand appearance!

The whole experience was absolutely beautiful.

You can see Enoch's full birth story by watching the slideshow below. To watch it in High Definition, click "HD" and follow the link.

Eleshia and Donald,

Thank you so much for allowing me to share this with you. Enoch is so blessed to be born into a family where he will be raised with such love. I pray all the best for you guys.

In Christ,
Julie

A letter for my best friend

Lee,

This has been the most incredible year of my life. Words cannot even express how thankful I am that God chose me to be your wife. Out of all the women in the world, He chose me for you. Probably because you were the only man with enough patience to handle my crazy ideas, to-do lists and lack of culinary skills. ;)

You are an amazing man of God and I couldn't be more proud to call you my husband. Please bear with me, because I have ALOT of pictures for you ;) These are some of my favorite memories from the last year:

Obviously, this was our wedding day. The whole day was so completely surreal. All of the waiting and hoping and dreaming and I FINALLY got to see you waiting at the end of the aisle. The picture below was RIGHT before the ceremony.

Fast forward to the honeymoon: This was our "snazzy" dinner night! (2nd day wedding hair makes for a great up-do ;D)

Also on the honeymoon: Orange Beach! It was so strange being allowed to GO somewhere with you! I remember that we played in the waves for so long that we both had motion sickness when we got back!

For the first 8 months, we lived in this beauty ;) On this day, we were laying a tarp over the top because of a leak. I remember another day when it was POURING rain and we had another leak. We bought an enormous tarp, put on our swimsuits and set to work! (Can you say LP??)

First day of school!

There were many many many nights that we ate grilled chicken and frozen vegetables. Then we discovered BURGERS ;)

Our first puppy: Skippy Dude

This day, we were sitting outside of the music building at school and listening to the students practice.

You just HAD to have your Christmas gift early ;)

My birthday: Pecan pie and Taco Soup!

Driving to Norwood with your brothers! I think this was Thanksgiving.

Getting that Graduation ring!

I don't remember WHEN this was, but I remember that I came home to a clean house and no dishes. You rock ;)

This was after The Church Christmas Party. We all went to Sonic to grab something cold. Because its not too cold for slushies in DECEMBER in South Louisiana.

Our extremely SAD attempt at making cake-balls for Christmas gifts. We ended up making peppermint bark for everyone instead!

Movie date for your birthday!

Christmas breakfast at Chris and LeeAnn's house!

Our first (and last) Christmas in the camper! (For everyone else, I'm sorry you had to see this ;D)

Christmas morning at The Church :)

February 4th: WE BOUGHT OUR FIRST HOME!! We were so happy!

February 15th : We welcomed baby Eli into the world! What an awesome day :D

We couldn't wait to move into our new home, so we PACKED my car full of stuff and drove over. Yeah...you were driving with that fan in your lap! haha  Good thing it was just down the driveway ;)

When we got ClearPlay!

Raking our giant new yard!

We spent our entire Spring Break working on our house! You worked so hard for us. Every morning you got up and worked ALL DAY. I was so proud of you!

The night we found out that you were accepted to grad school! I wanted to surprise you with a party, but only my family and the girls could come...so it was more like a slumber party! haha!

When I made a paper puppet of you in my art class! You just LOVED it ;D

Your last day of school. And your last ride in the library elevator. Sorry for cutting off your head ;)

GRADUATION! I was SO proud of you, babe!

With the summer starting, we both started new jobs. We weren't able to spend any time together, so you came to work with me! And painted flowers on the pool deck for me ;)

The night we had to say goodbye to Brianna and Charissa. I remember how Charissa would always run straight to "Uncle Gee" and latch onto your leg.

And last, this was our anniversary dinner on Saturday (in case you don't remember). We were excited to have a "nice" dinner out. All year, we saved up change and recycled cans to pay for our date.

So that's it!

I love you so much babe, and I can't wait to see what God has in store for us this year!

Yours forever,
Julie
